Paint Update - 10/08/2025
Where is paint? Where are we with paint?
We are trying to work on getting a production facility set up as soon as humanly possible, we have made contact with all of our vendors, all of the ingredients are currently still available. That's good news, we're set up with our vendors to pretty much send over PO's for the various ingredients to make the paint, we are solely working out a space. As some may know, while others may not, commercial real-estate is not a quick venture, while it's not our first rodeo with purchasing a commercial space, its not a fast process. That's assuming we had a specific space in mind, currently we have not yet found the "perfect building" sure, we can find some nice industrial building in the 100,000sqft rang - lets be honest though Scalecoat does not need that large of a space. Ultimately around ~ 5000sqft would do the trick. Currently in our area, and really to some degree nation wide that sweet spot if 5K SQFT is hard to come by. If a generic estimate was made, if we had keys in hand to a place and PO's sent off to our suppliers, based on the average lead time we would have paint in bottles ready to purchase in about 4 months from the date PO's are sent out.
If you would like to help us work out the order to which we will release colors, please fill out the color form above (black button). We will release a color in SC1 and SC2 at the same time as a "double release".

Update on paint - 9/5/2025:
Will we see paint this year (2025)? The simple answer is no. When we purchased Scalecoat in June we we're in a new building based in Chattanooga TN (The Fusion Scale Hobbies retail shop and warehouse) where we had the space to produce the paint. A few minor changes would have been needed to efficiently produce the paint in the space. In early August a customer from the bar that neighbored our facility assaulted one of our employees, after the mishandling of the situation by Chattanooga Police Department we relocated our inventory and equipment within 30 days to a new facility. Our current location does not offer us the space we need produce the paint, we are actively working on selling our old building and working on locating a proper space to make the paint. We have several options we are weighing, ultimately none of the options are going to be quick. Once we have a larger space worked out we will being producing paint, in the meantime we are handling Wash Away and SC1/SC2 thinners.
Paint FAQ's
Will we offer both 1 and 2 oz bottles?
No, we will only offer paint in 1 oz bottles, this will help keep the line smaller for dealers and distributors to stock. It will also keep the SKU series smaller and help us maintain stock of each SKU.
Will we offer both SC 1 and SC 2?
Yes, however we will only offer paint in 1oz jars. While we plan to offer the full line in SC1 and SC2, colors in each line will be brough back based on color popularity.
Once we begin making paint, if a dealer or distributor would like to purchase a run of a color for faster release we will accept "fast orders" for paint runs to a dealer or distributor.
Will we use glass bottles?
Yes, we will offer the same tall skinny 1oz jars that were used previously.
Will we use child resistant caps again?
Yes, in very simple terms under federal law Scalecoat is required to use child resistant caps.
Will we release the full Scalecoat I and II line?
Yes, our intent is to offer the full color line again. It will take us time to mix batches of colors once we begin paint production. We will work in an order based on top interest colors.
Will we offer new colors?
In theory yes, however our initial plan is to offer previous colors first. This will allow us time to get into the groove of making the paint and become familiar with the coloring process to create new colors.
